By now most people remember to or at least think about backing up their computer, but what about those smartphones?  As we become more mobile, we carry more and more valuable data on our smartphones.  Think about the last time you switched phones (smartphone or not)…how long did it take you to transfer all those contacts?  More thank likely you spent a good 30 minutes or more re-typing your contacts on your new phone.

Now think about a smartphone.  What would happen if you lost it?  Could you recover or re-create all the data that you create and store on it on a daily basis?  If yes, how long would it take you?  Why not apply the same backup routine that you do to your computer to your smart phone?

After thinking about it, a lot of people agree that backing up their smart phone would be good idea.  Then comes the question of How.  How to backup your smartphone previously required you to jump through hoops with your phone provider to gather their recommendation, then to go to the manufacturers website to get any special tools and additional instructions.  With all that, it is easy to get confused.

The guys over at Gizmodo have created a nice How-To article to help reduce the confusion when backing up any smartphone.  This is a great article to have on hand if you are a smartphone user.

You can read the full How-To article here:
